8 Crates

Take a minute to view the video reading of 6 Sticks, which I recently recorded.  I have added captions to correspond with many of the pages in the text.  You may need to pause in order to read these.

milk crates

Let’s collectively compose 8 Crates, which will follow the same format as 6 Sticks.

Write one page which would fit into this new book, then compose a short caption which might accompany a teacher’s edition of the story .  (Follow the example of the 6 Sticks captions I wrote.)

8 crates make 8 seats.

Just like the flags in 6 sticks the 8 crates are separted to make 8 seats. (1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1=8 )

8 crates make… 2 book shelves

(stacked in 2 stacks of 4 crates each)
This helps in addition or mulitplication.
(4+4=8 or 2×4=8 ) This is a great visual for multiplication of 2×4.

U=1 crate U U=1 pair of shoes

U U U U U U U U

8 crates make 4 pairs of shoes.

(2 crates for each pair of shoes, 1 crate for each shoe)

This can help with addition, multiplication, or division.

(8/4=2 or 4×2=8 or 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1=8 )

8 crates make 4 foot rests for little feet.

(2 crates pushed together to form a foot rest=4 foot rests. 2 x 4=8

8 crates make 1 fort.

(stacked 2 high on each side)

2+2+2+2=8 or 4*2=8

8 crates make….2 rafts

(each raft gets four sticks)

2*4=8 or 8/4=2

8 crates make 8 turtle cages

You have (1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1=8 )

You could use different numbers of animals to put in the “cages” then it would make a good multiplication or division promblem, otherwise its good for addition. You could even make differnt animals in the cages and group to make the problem more diverse.

8Crates

4 crates for toy trucks and 4 crates for baby dolls. Another way of saying it is one set of 4 for trucks and one set of crates for dolls. 4+4=8 or 2*4=8

Connie

8 crates make 2 tables

2*4=8, 8/2=4

4 crates makes a stage and 4 crates make a bench for the audience to set.

4 crates + 4 crates = 8 crates

Eight crates makes two double sided chairs, that seat two each people.
1+2+1=4 1+2+1=4 and 4+4=8
or 8/4=2 and there are 2 chairs and each has 4 crates.(2*4=8)

8 crates make 2 squares. 4 in each square.

2+2=4 2+2=4 4+4=8 or 4*2=8

8 crates make 8 cat beds.

1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 8
There are 8 crates. One crate can be used for one cat bed. By adding the cat beds together, we find that we used 8 crates to make 8 cat beds.

8 crates make nests for eight hens.
2+2+2+2=8
2 crates stacked on 2 crates and 2 crates stacked on 2 crates.

8 crates…..Twin Towers

Group 4 crates on top of each other side by side to form the Twin Towers of New York,
(2 x 4 = 8, 4 + 4 = 8)

8 crates make……A Life Size (3D) Picture Frame.

Three crates down one side and three down the other side with one crate on the top in the middle and one more crate in the middle on the bottom.
3+1+3+1=8

I have 4 dolls who need a place to sleep. They also need a place to keep their clothes and accessories.

My dolls each have 1 crate that they use as their bed and 1 crate that they store their clothes and accessories in.

4 doll beds + 4 accessory keepers = 8 crates
or
4 dolls need 2 crates each, so 4 * 2 = 8 crates
